Pet Hair and Vacuum Cleaners

There is a good reason why you need a very powerful vacuum cleaner when you own a pet. Pet hair can be tough to clean up from carpets and rugs for many appliances so you really do need to get the best model you can afford for this purpose.

It's not just the shed fur that gives most vacuum cleaners a hard time getting it up off carpets, rugs and upholstery, but the associated dust, dander, flower and weed seeds that the pet brings in from outdoors along with fleas and their eggs that get dropped around the place. It takes a lot of suction power to get all that off your floors and furniture each day, so it pays to buy the best vacuum you can.

Why is it So Difficult to Clean Up Pet Fur?

One of the main reasons it's such a chore to remove pet fur and other debris from your home is the tough fur strands get:

  • Tangled in carpet fibers
  • Lodged in upholstery fiber
  • Stuck in throws, covers and curtains

All of which makes it resistant to the lower power suction capabilities of lesser vacuum cleaners. Being a dog owner myself, I know just how frustrating it can be going over and over an area of carpet only to see a bunch of stubborn pet hairs defiantly resisting my best attempts to suck them up!

That's why I upgraded to a one of the best machines I could afford, more of which in a later post.

What is the Best Value Vacuum Cleaner Type for Pet Hair?

There are several different types of cleaner that can cope with most pet hairs, dander, fluff, dust and other nasties. Some of the top bagless cleaners are very good at removing them especially with attachments designed for the task.

One of the main features to go for is the suction power of the machine first of all, since this is the aspect of the cleaner that will make the most difference. Lower powered ones simply cannot cope with this and even if they have special attachments to help lift the hairs from the carpet or upholstery fibers, lack of sheer suction power will let them down.

As I add more articles to this blog, I'll go over the best of the current collection of machines that I can personally recommend or provide recommendations from my friends who are also pet owners. It will build into a useful set of reviews of individual machines that are top of their class for pet hair removal from the home.

Stay tuned and you'll be glad you cane back for more if you are seriously looking for the best vacuum cleaner for the job.
